APJ Abdul Kalam Sir was one of the brilliant scientists of India, he was responsible for the development of the country's first satellite launch vehicle. He has got numerous awards of honors including
Padma Bhushan(1981), Padma Vibhushan(1990), and Bharath Ratna(1997). He was the President of India between 2002 and 2007. He passed away in July 2015.
Mr. Sirjan Pal Singh studied at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He has actively travelled across rural India and studied sustainable development.
Today, we all talk about the development of the world, the development of more than 3 billion rural people around the globe. Our missile man of India also had a vision for a developed India and World and this book expresses that vision. He found out Innovative solutions towards sustainable development and he called it Pura(Providing Urban Amenities in rural areas). As per his views, Pura can transform the rural areas and can bring a change to them. A Pura village can be called an Urban village. To become a developed society, it is very necessary that development should take place on a large scale and in all sectors (ie, health, education, public facilities, etc.) And this should not damage the environment, it should be an eco-friendly development and this is meant by sustainable development. The book is divided into 11 chapters, and each chapter discusses one or other factors of development and each of the chapters highlights the importance of PURA. APJ Abdul Kalam sir conveys that every citizen has an important role in it. He discusses the Pura, which can act as a solution for the development problems. This is a magical, splendid work of APJ Abdul Kalam Sir and I recommend all readers to read this book.
