Discovery of the joy of Reading

Good evening

Hot sun courtesy summer, locked gates courtesy  Virus CORONA   and repeated doses of boring cartoon shows on television directed us to a new interest Comic books. It was a chance discovery of a a box full of comic books which our mother has taken care for so long. Our first pick was  'Ambili mamman' published in 1990.The story we read was' Vyaja vaidan' meaning Fake physician. The story is set in a small village called 'Kirayur' where  lived a physician 'Pattabi' who treated villagers of their diseases with utmost care and love. But one day a  physician named Kittappan ,claiming to have herbal medicines from himalaya comes to village and starts treating innocent villagers with those fake medicine. He claimed that he can diagnose illness by looking in their eyes.He became popular and flocked in for his treatment. Pattabi knew he was fake but he required to prove it.One day he went with a blind person to Kittappan for treatment. As practiced kittappan   looking at the eyes   declared that his whole digestive system seems to has collapsed but I will treat and cure him. Here was the catch ,Pattabi immediately  responded and told everybody that the patient was blind and has no digestive problems. Kittappan was caught red handed and people realised their mistake.Kittappan was put behind the bars.

Coincidentally  it seemed to us that this story can be linked to present havoc created by Corona virus. Our papa keeps on telling us fake news on medicines  for treatment of thi pandemic is very dangerous.People shouldn't fall for it like the villagers of Kirayur.Follow the guidelines issued by medical authorities  only.Follow the tagline  'Stay home Stay safe' and' Break the chain'

Confession  We did take help from papa and mama to express our views

Thanking all
